4 Autonomous Colleges to Host Online Degree Courses | Indore News

Indore: For the first time, starting from the new academic session 2022-23, four autonomous Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Indore district will now be able to run online degree courses which were hitherto restricted to universities only .
Of the four institutions, two government colleges including Mata Jijabai Government Girls PG College (Old GDC) and Government Holkar Science College, as well as two self-governing private institutions.
Hailing the development, Additional Director of Indore DHE and Director of Govt Holkar Science College, Dr. Suresh Silawat told TOI that it will be a great relief for students who are not admitted into the preferred college in the academic session. 2022-23 due to high cutoff.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has authorized autonomous colleges across the country, including four in the city, to allow distance learning courses from July this year. As a result, these four institutions will now be able to launch online degree courses. .
“It is implemented under the New Education Policy 2020. Courses like BCom, BA, BSc, BBA can be started under this program,” Silawat said.
As the right to organize online degree courses will be granted to autonomous colleges that have had the opportunity to appear in the top 100 ranks in the respective subject category at least twice in the last three rankings of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF ) or an A grade obtained from the NAAC with a minimum of 3.26 points, these colleges will not need prior approval.
Before July, a team from National Assessment and Accreditation (NAAC) is to inspect Holkar Science College and Old GDC. If these colleges do not earn a minimum of 3.26 points from the NAAC, they will be out of the running to hold online classes.
Colleges that run online degree courses will also have the option to implement all NEP facilities in online degree courses. If a student leaves in one year, there will be provision of a certificate, a diploma in the second year and an honors degree in four years.
The value of the online degree will also be equal to the degree of normal offline courses. It will be valid for regular admission into other PGs as well as competitive exams like UPSC, PSC. TNN
