A new platform to help tenants with pets find rental properties has been launched
The world’s first pet listing platform was launched to make it easier to find rental properties for tenants with pets.
Although pet ownership is at an all-time high, less than 7% of UK rental properties accept tenants with pets, leaving millions at risk of eviction or duty abandon their cat or dog.
However, the new PetsScore risk scoring and referral service aims to be a âforce for changeâ in the rental market, making it easier for landlords to assess damage risk.
In addition to creating a “pet profile” with information about their animal, such as microchip number, breed, vaccinations, medical treatments and training, owners can also collect referrals from. former owners, rental agents or even vacation guests.
This information is then used to create a unique “PetsScore”, which can be shared with anyone you wish to rent to and which is recalculated and updated in real time based on new benchmarks.
Created by tech pro and former owner Natasha Homer-Earley after struggling to find a property that would accept her dog Daisy, the online platform is free for pet owners, but charges agents a fee. low or subscription to see a pet reference.
Founder Natasha told TeamDogs: âWe are on the brink of disaster for British pets and their owners.
“Pet ownership is at an all time high, climbing the property ladder has never been so out of reach for millions of people and there is a chasm between the availability of rental properties that accept pets. and the overwhelming demand for them.
“We want to be a force for change in a traditionally weary tenant market with pets – making it easier for landlords to assess and measure a cat or dog’s potential risk with just a few clicks. of a future tenant. “
The service will be applicable to short rentals like on Airbnb, as well as longer rentals.
An insurance element, which will allow tenants whose pets are not as highly rated to be insured against damage, is also expected to be added to the platform.
