As inflation hits consumers around the world hard, the online mega-retailer’s sale is set to be a high-profile event. In 2021, online sales during Prime Day topped $11 billion, up 6.1% from the previous year. As of 2021, Amazon said it had over 200 million Prime members worldwide.
When is Prime Day 2022?
Amazon’s biggest sale of the year will take place over two days: Tuesday July 12 and Wednesday July 13, 2022.
The 48-hour deals event begins at midnight PDT (3 a.m. EDT).
What is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon has deals every day, but in 2015 they launched a one-day sale called Prime Day, with promotions and deals only available to Amazon Prime subscribers.
This first Prime Day in 2015 was held to mark Amazon’s 20th anniversary. It quickly turned into one of the biggest sales parties of the year, often happening well before Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Amazon’s annual Prime Day event only happens once a year, usually during the summer. In recent years, Amazon has moved Prime Day in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the move back to July in 2022 signals a return to their “one-size-fits-all approach,” according to NBC News.
