Aurora School District – NBC Chicago
According to school district officials, a person described as a “selling teacher” allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior via an online platform during a class at Aurora’s Waldo Middle School.
In a letter dated Jan. 28, Lori Campbell, associate superintendent of School District 131 in East Aurora, explained that the college administration team had been made aware of an incident in one of her math classes “involving the inappropriate behavior of a selling teacher via the online platform.”
Campbell explained that a “full extent of the behavior was investigated” and that “appropriate steps were taken to ensure that the seller and the situation were dealt with.”
However, the school district did not specify what specific behavior was reported.
The unidentified vendor apologized in the school district’s statement, saying it acted quickly and terminated the employee in question.
“We do not take issues like this lightly and are fully committed to ensuring a positive learning experience,” the statement read in part. “…We are fully committed to ensuring a successful educational experience with all of our partner schools.”
The incident is also being investigated by the Aurora Police Department.
