Butler University Expands Relationship with Noodle to Create Online Doctor of Pharmacy Pathway – Stories

INDIANAPOLIS, IN and NEW YORK, NY—Butler University, named the most innovative school in the Midwest region by US News and World Reporttoday announced its intention to develop a Pharmacist (PharmD) online course with its partner Noodle, the fastest growing online learning network in the country. The program is currently accepting applications for a fall 2022 start.
This new program marks the fourth Butler has launched in collaboration with Noodle as part of its commitment to welcoming and supporting learners of all life stages and backgrounds, wherever they may be. Previous collaborations include an online Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Strategic Communication (MSSC), and Master of Science in Data Analytics (MSDA).
The online PharmD pathway, similar to Butler’s on-campus PharmD program, will prepare students to be compassionate pharmacy practitioners who possess the knowledge and skills required as drug use authorities and who can apply the pharmaceutical and biomedical science to the clinical application of drug therapy.
“Through an interdisciplinary, student-centered approach, Butler’s online PharmD pathway develops community leaders who are dedicated to serving society and improving patient outcomes,” says Dr. Kimberly Beck, associate professor and director of the pharmacy program at Butler University. “Butler is known for its excellent teaching, its opportunities to engage directly with experienced faculty, and its provision of real-world experience through hands-on skills instruction, rewarding internships, research with faculty mentors, and interprofessional sessions of collaborative problem solving. This approach gives our students the knowledge and skills they need to excel after university, both in the job market and in life.
Butler has a long history of being fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and is currently accredited until June 2028. Butler has received preliminary approval from ACPE for the development of the Doctor of Pharmacy online pathway and will be subject to an on-site visit in Spring 2022, in anticipation of final approval in June 2022. If the online pathway is not approved for any reason, the admitted students can join the course on campus.
“In the past, the challenge of designing online programs that capture clinical experience has prevented many universities from attempting to offer hybrid programs in medicine and health sciences. Our ability to identify high-quality clinical placements in states that currently do not have such programs is a key reason why academic partners, like Butler, are increasingly choosing us to bring their programs online. says Lee Bradshaw, chief strategy officer at Nouille. “We are delighted to have been selected to work with Butler on their PharmD program to increase access to this burgeoning field.”
