Emirates promises enhanced flight experience in new Premium Economy class seats
Airline company Emirates announced a major refurbishment program for 105 of its widebody jets with a host of cabin upgrades.
The 18-month program, scheduled to start at the end of 2022, will see 52 Emirates A380 and 53 Boeing 777 equipped with a new cabin class – Premium Economy. The airline is also planning to install an all-new business-class product on its Boeing 777 aircraft, with custom seats in a 1-2-1 layout.
At the end of the upgrade program, Emirates will have 111 Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s offering Premium Economy seats.
Five rows of seats in economy class located just behind the business class will be eliminated to install 24 Premium Economy seats arranged in 2-4-2 configuration on 777 aircraft. Some 56 Premium Economy seats will be installed forward of the main deck also in 2-4-2 configuration on the A380.
End December, Emirates A380s with Premium Economy will be operated on the airline’s flights to Frankfurt, London Heathrow, New York JFK and Paris.
Emirates Premium Economy seats promise optimal comfort and support with six-way adjustable headrests, calf rests and footrests. Offering generous spacing of up to 40 inches, each seat is 19.5 inches wide and reclines 20 inches to a comfortable position with enough room to stretch. Other touches include easily accessible charging points in the seat, a wide dining table and a side cocktail table.
