Google launches online training to boost cloud skills
In light of the need to meet the ever-growing demand for the skills required to create and maintain large-scale cloud deployments, Google LLC today announced the launch of a new educational initiative called Google Cloud skills optimization.
With the launch of Skills Boost, Google Cloud will provide access to more than 700 hands-on workshops, role-based courses, skill badges and certification resources, including 16 new learning paths for the knowledge most in demand. These skills involve knowledge bases such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analysis, application development, security, and cloud architecture.
“All over the world, digital transformations are happening at an increasing rate, and the driving force behind these transformations are the skilled and cloud-trained people who make up these organizations,” Rochana Golani, director of learning and education, told SiliconANGLE. of authorization at Google Cloud.
According to an industry study published by A Cloud Guru, more than 90% of executives in information technology roles expect significant expansion of cloud services, but 80% of the same executives surveyed found that the lack of cloud skills hinders this growth.
“Whether you are a developer or a business user adjacent to technology, having easy access to a platform that provides opportunities for continuous learning, training and development is key to professional and organizational success,” said Golani.
Starting today, users will be able to customize their own learning paths, track their progress and validate their own new knowledge with Google Cloud Skills badges that can be used to show their skills to potential employers. According to Google, these skills can lead to significant career growth.
In fact, two of the the most profitable IT certifications in 2021 are both on Google Cloud: Google Certified Professional Data Engineer averaged $ 171,749 per year and Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect averaged $ 169,029 per year.
Google Cloud Skills Boost training includes content such as Getting Started with Google Kubernetes Engine, How Google Does Machine Learning, Professional Cloud Architect Certification Exam Preparation and more.
At launch, all content is available in English and Japanese. Support for other languages will come soon.
Users who Register now by November 6 will receive their first month of free content. Google believes this should make it easy for new users to get Google Cloud certification or learn a new skill.
Following the new initiative, Google also hosts Cloud Learn, a new free learning event on December 8 and 9. The event will be hosted for developers, IT professionals and data practitioners to give them the opportunity to hear from Google Cloud executives, customers and industry experts.
Cloud Learn will also offer exclusive opportunities to earn even more skill badges, participate in more hands-on challenges, and access additional learning resources. The event aims to cover everything from Google Cloud fundamentals to more intensive preparation for Google Cloud certification.
Users can register for the event at Google’s web portal to reserve a place.
