Context of the problem

In 2010, Haryana Board conducted the latest Class 8 Board Examinations in which 3,44,698 students were declared successful out of a total of 3,67,247 students who sat for the examination. Previously, the schools affiliated to the Indian CBSE and ICSE councils were protesting the decision of the Haryana government to hold the council exam for Class 8. Defending the decision of the Haryana government, the BSEH chairman, Jagbir Singh, said that previously, the Haryana Board of Education used to conduct board examinations for grades 5, 8, 10 and 12. However, with the implementation Instead of the RTE 2011 rule, jury examinations are organized only for classes 10 and 12.

“We are making changes in the education policy of Haryana. The yearly exam for Class 8 children of all Haryana Boards will be taken by the Haryana School Board. Its main objective is to increase the quality of education for children,” he told the media.

Currently, as pollution levels continue to fluctuate between “very low” and “severe” in the National Capital Region (NCR), Haryana government officials said on Wednesday they would follow the directives of the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM), which and close all educational establishments until further notice.
