Humble Bundle Simplified Play subscription will include a members-only library

Humble Bundle hasn’t quite won fans with potentially confusing donation caps and membership levels, but it hopes to make amends. As of February 1, the company’s Humble Choice monthly service consolidates around a one-time $ 12 monthly plan that gives you permanent copies of every game offered in any given month. Humble noted that the number of games can vary, but you can always skip a month if you don’t like the selection and want to stay a member.

You will also have access to more games as long as you are a subscriber. A new Humble Games Collection gives you access to an organized and growing catalog of titles that you can only access as a Choice member. The initial mix is limited to just five games (including the relatively well-known Void Bastards) available through the Humble app, but the company is clearly hoping that the promise of a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass-style library will keep you paying even when Choice’s monthly selections aren’t for you.

The choice has other modified advantages. You will receive up to 20% off qualifying games you purchase from the Humble Store, but you will need to remain a subscriber for at least one year. You will benefit from this reduction immediately if you subscribe before February. Five percent of your membership fee will be donated to charity.

This will not please everyone. Classic subscribers who change rates will lose their 20% discount when they skip a month, for example. It could be less confusing, however, and could be appealing if you want to access a plethora of indie games, regardless of what the monthly catalog has to offer.
