Child nutrition classes temporarily move online
Professional dietitians answer questions about introducing solids and textures
Parents who have questions about feeding their growing babies have access to a free online infant nutrition course offered by Alberta Health Services (AHS).
Led by a registered dietitian, the 90-minute workshop explains why babies should start consuming iron-rich foods at six months of age, how to start introducing solid foods, and why it’s important to switch to different food textures.
AHS dietitians will answer questions and show parents how to prepare their own baby food using a variety of cooking utensils they may already have at home. Parents will learn how to prepare vegetables, fruit, meat, and meat alternatives using a number of different tools, including hand mixers, food grinders, and food processors.
The class is an online version of the AHS Child Nutrition Workshops, which are offered regularly in 29 communities in the central AHS area.
Online infant nutrition courses will be offered via Zoom on the following dates:
– July 14 and 28 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
– August 11 and 25 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
For more information and to register, please call your local community health center. You will receive an email with your Zoom link one day before the workshop.
