Insight partners with global non-profit organization Vivli on the industry’s first antimicrobial resistance research platform –

Clinical research initiative combats global public health threats by accelerating data sharing on infectious pathogens and antibiotic resistance
CHANDLER, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Insight Enterprises (NASDAQ:NSIT), a Fortune 500 solutions integrator that helps customers accelerate their digital journey, today announced that it has worked with Vivli, a nonprofit organization nonprofit dedicated to advancing human health through clinical research data sharing, to support the launch of Vivli’s Antimicrobial Resistance Registry (AMR Registry). The groundbreaking global platform enables biopharmaceutical companies to share susceptibility data on pathogens causing infections.
“The launch of the AMR Register platform marks a crucial step in the fight against the growing global health threat of antimicrobial resistance, in which diseases that were once easily treatable with antibiotics become more difficult to cure,” said Vivli’s executive director, Rebecca Li, PhD. “Insight’s technology solutions support and deep technical expertise have been an integral part of Vivli’s efforts to create the AMR Registry, which can help researchers securely access critical raw data, combine and analyze multiple sets of data from across the industry, to contain the risk of antimicrobial resistance and ultimately to advance scientific knowledge.
The launch of Vivli’s AMR Registry is the first single, streamlined online platform to promote the open sharing of industry surveillance data and will support researchers in their efforts to:
- Identify global, regional and local changes in pathogen resistance rates;
- Detect trends in multi-drug resistance by analyzing data over time and enable modeling of future resistance trends;
- Catalyze innovation around new antimicrobial drugs; and
- Help inform national and international policies and antibiotic stewardship.
“Research insights that are backed by trusted and robust data ecosystems are extremely important to the healthcare industry, as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as they strive to control antimicrobial resistant infections. and protect human health,” said Stan Lequin, senior vice president and general manager, Solutions, Insight. “An innovation like the AMR Registry fills this gap in data translation and can spur meaningful action that has the potential to save lives as Vivli works to reduce one of the world’s top public health threats. We are proud to support Vivli’s work and vision in preserving antibiotics and protecting the health of future generations around the world.
Insight is the nonprofit’s longtime platform technical development and maintenance partner, supporting Vivli’s April 2020 launch of its Covid-19 data sharing portal and platform. global form of clinical trial research in 2018.
The AMR Registry is guided by a Scientific Advisory Board comprised of influential leaders in antimicrobial resistance and global health, including Henry Kajumbula, MD of Makerere University College of Health Sciences; Trudie Lang from the Nuffield Department of Medicine; Marc Mendelson, PhD, Groote Schuur Hospital, University of Cape Town; Arjun Srinivasan, MD, of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Janet Midega, PhD, of Wellcome; and Andy Stergachis, PhD, of the University of Washington. The AMR Registry was made possible by an initial seed grant from the Wellcome Trust.
