On Sunday, November 20, 2022, the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) named Ryan Langferman State High School’s 2022 Principal of the Year. Langferman is the principal of Milan High School in Milan, Indiana. He represents the best of Indiana after being chosen from twelve district winners who were all honored at the banquet.

Earlier this fall, Ryan was named District 10 High School Principal of the Year. District 10 is located in southeastern Indiana and is made up of Dearborn, Decatur, Fayette, Franklin, Hancock, Jennings, Ripley, Rush, Shelby, and Union counties. Now Ryan has been darling

The recognition ceremony is part of the 2022 Directors of the Year Recognition Celebration, part of IASP’s Annual Fall Professional Conference. The prestigious award was presented at a dinner at the JW Marriott Hotel in Indianapolis hosted by IASP State Chairman Matt Shockley and Executive Director Dr. Todd Bess. It is the thirtieth anniversary of the organization of the IASP.

Langferman is in his tenth year as principal of the Milan high school. During his tenure, he implemented many outstanding programs that increased graduation rates and encouraged students to graduate with a plan for a prosperous future. Among the programs is the Graduation Preparation Period, or GP, which meets four days a week to give students the opportunity to work with a mentor teacher as they learn skills and habits in ethics from work that prepares them for life beyond high school.

District High School Principals of the Year are elected by their peers. A principal is honored from each of the 12 districts. Of these 12 district high school principal winners, one is chosen as the 2022 High School Principal of the Year.

“We are extremely proud that Ryan Langferman has been chosen as the 2022 State Principal of the Year. Ryan is a dedicated educational leader and puts the needs of students first. Ryan has hired quality teachers and staff who all support his vision that students graduate with a plan. Ryan graduated from Milan and has a passion for the people in our community. He certainly represents the best of Indiana’s managers,” commented Superintendent Jane Rogers.

The Indiana Association of School Principals is a nonprofit professional association serving more than 3,300 building-level administrators in the state of Indiana.
