STEUBENVILLE – Steubenville Municipal School retirees gathered for lunch at the North Star Restaurant in McDonald’s, Pennsylvania on May 12.
The next lunch will be at Abdalla’s Tavern and Grill in Stratton at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
All retirees are welcome. No reservation is necessary.

STEUBENVILLE – The Brooke County Animal Welfare League will be holding its next Low Cost Neuter and Spay/RASCAL Clinic July 9-10 at the Steubenville American Legion Post 33, located at 808 N. Fifth St., Steubenville.
RASCAL is the acronym for Low Cost Itinerant Animal Sterilization Clinic.
Interested pet owners should call (304) 374-4443 immediately as appointments are limited and required, and there are no appointments, a spokesperson said.
Appointments are not limited to Brooke County residents.
Ron Retzer Trio to perform at Hill Top Presbyterian Church
TORONTO — The Ron Retzer Trio will perform at Hill Top Presbyterian Church, 110 County Road 46, Toronto, Sunday, beginning at 6 p.m.
“We are very happy to welcome them and hope that the whole community will come and listen to their inspiring music”, noted a church spokesperson.
There will be refreshments after the music. A love offering will be taken.
Cynthia’s Rainbow 5K
is scheduled for Sunday
WINTERSVILLE — Cynthia’s Rainbow 5K run/walk will take place Sunday at 9 a.m., starting and ending at Indian Creek High School.
Proceeds benefit the Cynthia Rose Phillipson Charitable Foundation in memory of Cynthia Rose Philipson, daughter of Carol and Todd Phillipson, who died November 2, 2014. The foundation supports scholarships for students at area schools, Mary’s Meals and Cornerstone of Hope
They expect about 150 participants. Prizes will be awarded in several categories. All participants will receive a T-shirt and refreshments after the race.

The next event sponsored by the foundation is the annual golf outing scheduled for July 9 at Cadiz Country Club.

The Wellsburg teenager is crowned
Miss Land of West Virginia
WELLSBURG – Ava Nicole Shane of Wellsburg has been crowned Teen Miss West Virginia Earth and will compete for the title of Teen Miss Earth USA in January.
The daughter of Mike and Geri Shane, she is a sophomore at Brooke High School and the winner of a two-year letter on the school’s dance team, for which she received leadership and spirit awards. jock.
She is a member of the National Technical Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and Interact. A contest winner at the Wellsburg Applefest and Brooke County Fair for many years, she co-directs the new Wellsburg Fourth of July Celebration Pageant.

WELLSBURG — Anyone needing help setting up an email account, downloading e-books and learning other internet and computer skills is invited to visit the Brooke County Public Library from 11 a.m. to noon on June 13.
A West Virginia University Extension Service representative will teach these and other skills. People can bring their own charged devices or use one of the library computers.

Follansbee branch offers help with resumes, applications
FOLLANSBEE — The Follansbee Branch Library will offer help using computers to create resumes and submit job applications online from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 11.
Participants are encouraged to bring information about their work experience and other backgrounds that may be useful.
Registration is not required, but visitors will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.
Senior fitness classes offered
WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library is offering Geri-Fit, a 45-minute strength training class for seniors.
Participants begin lifting light weights, usually seated, and can work at their own pace. They should bring a set of light dumbbells, an elastic band and water to drink.
Video fitness classes are held 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Follansbee Library, 844 Main St., and 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the Brooke County Library, 945 Main St. Those interested in participating in the free classes should register by calling (304) 737-1551 ext. 106.
