Westhill boy golfers claim Class B section title – Eagle News Online

PHOENIX – This was yet another case where what happened in the regular season in men’s golf was not repeated in the playoffs – which was fitting Westhill It’s okay.

Led by Anthony Maglisco, the Warriors rose to the top of the standings in Tuesday’s Fall Section III Class B tournament at Beaver Meadows Golf Club, scoring the best of regular season champion Christian Brothers Academy and five other opponents.

At the top was Maglisco, who, along with CBA’s Joe Nicholson, engaged in a heated battle for low individual honors. In the end, they both shot three under par 69, eight shots ahead of the field.

From a team perspective, despite ABC’s 11-0 mark and Westhill 9-4, it’s the Warriors, with 390, comfortably ahead of the Brothers’ 403 tally as Skaneateles finished third with 428.

Westhill started to take the lead when two players, Aidan Ryan and Danny Young, shot 78 to join a wide tie for fifth place with ABC’s Jack Gregory.

Then it was Devin Young who shot an 80, with Luke Gilmartin claiming the Warriors victory when his 85 equaled Jack MacLachlan and Dan Angelo of CBA and beat Emmet Kilmartin by one. Grady Pens added a 92.

Meanwhile, Skaneateles saw Tommy DiRubbo shoot a 77, tying Chittenango’s Alex Moesch for third place. Lakers teammates Shawn Luce and Jack Marquardt are tied for 10th place with 79, ahead of Jude Pas’cal (95) and Will Cowden (98) while Bode Gutchess saw 104.

Finishing his season, Jordan-Elbridge golfer Colin Jewsbury scored 87 to tie for 20th place.
